It means your lamps won’t just burn out the moment you start rapid thermal cycling. One quick tip: check your mounting brackets. Since these lamps run at high power, you need materials that don’t expand much when they get hot. If those brackets warp, they can put pressure on the tube. And a stressed tube is a cracked tube.
The Real-World Trade-offs
Here is the catch. Because these units are sealed, they’re a bit bulkier than your average lamp. You’ll also lose a tiny bit of radiant efficiency because of that protective housing. But honestly? That’s a small price to pay for peace of mind in a hazardous zone. One last thing: I highly recommend pairing these with a dedicated PID controller. Since the sealed setup can trap heat, you don’t want to overshoot your temperature and bake your chamber walls. Keep a close eye on it, and you’re good to go.
