When you’re picking out an infrared heater for the bathroom, your first instinct might be to go for the biggest number on the box. But here’s the thing: more power isn’t always better. Finding the right fit for your space If you’ve got a tiny bathroom—think under 4m²—you don’t need a monster of a heater. A 250W to 400W lamp usually does the trick. If you throw a 600W unit in a closet-sized bathroom, it’ll get way too hot, way too fast. You’ll end up wasting electricity and putting unnecessary stress on the fixture. For those mid-sized bathrooms (around 4m² to 8m²), you’ve got options. A single 600W unit works well, or you can spread the heat around with a dual-lamp setup. Then you have the big bathrooms or those with high, airy ceilings. In those cases, you’ll want 800W or more. Otherwise, the heat might vanish into the rafters before it ever reaches your shoulders. The “Sauna Effect” These heaters use short-wave infrared tech, which basically means the heat travels in a straight line.
