It’s brutal. But we want the weaknesses—like a leaky seal or a loose quartz tube mount—to pop up in our lab, not in your house. Most of the time, things break at the connection points. Moisture sneaks into the wiring or eats away at the contacts. By stressing the units, we can see exactly where the water is creeping in and fix it before the product ever leaves the factory.
The Balancing Act
Here’s the tricky part: waterproofing a device that gets scorching hot is a bit of a tug-of-war. We use special gaskets and sealed housings to keep the dampness out. But if we seal it too tight, the heat gets trapped inside. That’s a problem because it can fry the internal electronics. We spend a lot of time figuring out the “sweet spot”—making sure the unit stays airtight while still letting enough heat escape to keep everything running cool.

A quick bench test doesn’t mean a product is ready for your wall. We only ship the units that keep their power and insulation steady after the entire aging cycle. If a batch shows even a tiny 2% failure rate during these tests? We scrap the whole lot. We go back to the drawing board and look at the seal tolerances again. It might seem like overkill, but it means you can take a steaming hot shower without worrying about your heater tripping the breaker.
